BEVERLY E. TIEGS PENTEL FRYER
Beverly E. Fryer was born November 3, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, to Herbert and Ethel Callahan Tiegs. An alumna of Englewood High School in Chicago, she was one of WWIIs Rosie the Riveters working as an inspector at the Link Belt factory.
Her first marriage was to Robert Pentel of Chicago. Julie Anne Pentel Gutwein and Robert Ronald Pentel were born of this union. She later married Orby L. Fryer. Their sons are Terry K. Fryer and Bruce A. Fryer.
Beverly enjoyed a long career in the insurance field as executive assistant and office manager in agencies in the Chicago area.
She was also active in church activities serving as youth group sponsor at North Shore Baptist Church and elder and committee chair at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago.
Beverly had a passion for the arts, which she instilled in her children. One of the most difficult things about moving to Monticello was relinquishing her seats to Chicago Symphony Orchestra performances. The arts interests were balanced by being a life long fan of the Chicago White Sox, a team she continued to follow to the end.
She is survived by daughter Julie A. (Phil) Gutwein of Monticello, Indiana, and sons Terry K. (Kasia) Fryer of Evanston, Illinois and Bruce A. (Linda) Fryer of Park City, Utah; brother Marius Negrin of Evanston, Il; nine grandchildren: Brad (Kaye) Gutwein, Joetta (Brian) Harvey, Matthew (Jane Henegar) Gutwein, Philip (Tori) Gutwein, Bethel Pentel, Brian Pentel, Michelle Pentel, Peter (Alana) Fryer and Sara (Travis) Miller; seventeen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Robert (Bob) Pentel, sisters Marian Tiegs Munroe and Shirley Tiegs Warner.
Visitation will be from 11am until 1 pm (EDT), Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral home of Monticello.
Funeral services celebrating Beverly's life will follow at 1pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association in honor and memory of her son Robert. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Bedford Cemetery.
