Beth E. Westfall, 63, of Reynolds died at 4:35 pm, Friday, April 1, 2011 at, Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital of Lafayette. She was born on October 19, 1947 at Lafayette to the late Ralph Rosentreter and Esther (Webb) Rosentreter. Her mother survives in Monticello. Her marriage to Tom Westfall was on June 20, 1970, at the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds, and he survives. Beth attended school in Reynolds from 1953 until 1962. She attended Twin Lakes High School beginning in 1962 and graduating in 1965. She began working on her Bachelor of Science majoring in Elementary Education in 1965 and completed the degree in 1969. She completed her Master of Science in Library Science in 2007. She taught at the former Crouch Elementary School in Lafayette from 1969 to 1970. From 1970 through 1974, she taught at Reynolds Elementary School. She started a preschool in 1979 in her home. She operated the preschool for ten years finally moving the preschool to St. James Lutheran Church. She then worked as the childrens librarian at the Monticello Library from 1990 through 1998. She became the Twin Lakes School librarian in 1998, a position she held until her retirement in 2008. She was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds where she taught Sunday School and also Vacation Bible School. She served on the daycare board and was instrumental in starting the daycare at the church. Twenty-five years ago, she started the German Supper at the church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, and flower gardening. She was a Purdue Extension Service Master Gardener. She cherished time spent with her friends and family. Other survivors include a daughter, Karen (Jeremiah) Westfall-Collier of West Lafayette; son, Andrew Westfall (fianc Elizabeth Donald) of Lafayette; two sisters, Nancy (John) Lewis of Kansas City, Kansas, Susan (James) Novack of Agoura Hills, California; and a brother, James (Connie) Rosentreter of Franklin. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until 11:30 am, Tuesday, April 5, at St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds. Funeral services will be at 11:30 am, Tuesday, at St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds with Rev. Charles Blakey officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds. Memorial contributions may be given to St. James Daycare or to Monticello Union Township Children's Library. Envelopes will be available.
