Bernice "Bea" Capper, 93, of Monticello, passed away at 2:55 pm, Tuesday, July 26, 2016.She was born on August 12, 1922 in rural Brookston to the late Aud and Nettie (Goodman) Lawson. On September 2, 1941, she and Lloyd W. Capper were married by Rev. Don Ross in Monticello. Lloyd preceded her in death on January 30, 1992.Bea attended the Monticello two room school house and later graduated from Royal Center in 1940. She grew up on a farm as her father farmed locally and in Goodland, Remington, and Gilboa. Her first job was at Denny's Corner where she met Lloyd. She also worked at Bryan's Mfg during WWII, Hooks Drug Store and RCA. She was a member of the Monticello Christian Church and was active in the XYZ Club. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary chicken noodle suppers and selling poppies. Bea loved to spend Tuesday mornings with the coffee clutch gals. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii with nieces, Sharon and Karen Capper. She also traveled to Branson, MO, Hershey, PA, Nashville, TN and New York City. Bea was in New York City on September 11, 2001 and enjoyed a sightseeing dinner cruise of the Statue of Liberty and the skyline the night before. Most of all, Bea loved spending time with her family. She was hard working, loving, and generous. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.She is survived by children, John (Kathy) Capper, Park Ridge, IL and Jean (Rob) Roth, Monticello; grandchildren, Mike (Jaime) Capper, NC, Tim (Mindy) Capper, IL, Alison Sommers (companion Kyle), Monticello and Sarah Sommers (companion Mike), Lafayette; step grandsons, Taylor and Wade Roth; great grandchildren, Brooke, Elizabeth, Lauren, Alison, Mike, Reese and Sophia; step great granddaughter Ava.In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by siblings, Harold Lawson, Thelma Fross and Kenny Lawson. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services celebrating Bea's life at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Monticello Christian Church, 105 Gordon Road with church elder, Larry Crabb officiating.She will be laid to rest beside her beloved Lloyd in Buffalo Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to Monticello Christian Church.
