Barbara Geiger

Barbara A. Geiger, 76, of Monticello, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at her residence.

She was born on September 24, 1947 in Michigan City to the late Herman and Thelma (Lackey) Reuer. She married her college sweetheart, John R. Gieger on September 6, 1969 in Lafayette. They celebrated nearly fifty-five years of marriage. 

Barb was a graduate of Michigan City Elston High School and earned her Bachelor and Master degrees from Purdue University. Barb taught for the Tippecanoe County School Corporation primarily at as a second grade teacher at Klondike Elementary School in West Lafayette until her retirement. She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association. She enjoyed cooking and flower gardening. Above all, she cherished her family and loved being a grandma. 

She is survived by her husband, John of Monticello; son, John R. (Staci) Geiger Jr. of Anderson; daughters-in-law, April Lee and Jenifer Geiger both of Monticello; grandchildren, Luke and Allison Geiger; and sisters, Susie (Glenn) Gergely and Patty (Jim) Hennessey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David J. Geiger; and grandson, Tyler Geiger.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm (EDT) until 4:00 pm Friday, August 23, 2024 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. A time of sharing memories by family and friends will follow at 4pm (EDT) at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the White County Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
