Arthur Julian "Art" Bertram, 86, of Monticello died at 7:13 pm, Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. He was born August 11, 1926 in Indianapolis to the late Raymond and Mildred (Turner) Bertram. He married Joyce Fisher on August 20, 1944 in Indianapolis and she resides in Monticello. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII from 1944 to 1946. He had once been very active with Twin Lakes Senior Citizens and served on the governing board of White County Council on Aging for many years. Art retired as a computer system analyst following 38 years of service from RCA in Indianapolis. He moved to Monticello in 1982 and enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and hugging people. He is also survived by a daughter, Mildred Julianna (Bob) Cooper of Indianapolis; 2 sons, Arthur Jerald Jerry Bertram of Indianapolis, William Jeffrey (Carol) Bertram of Bel Air, Maryland; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm, Wednesday, October 31, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Monticello, with Rev. Ryan Bailey officiating. Burial committal services will follow at 3pm (EDT) at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to the first Baptist Church in Monticello.
