Ardis Lynn Cochran Kolter, 88, McCordsville, IN, passed away peacefully at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, on March 19, 2025, surrounded by her husband and loving family. Ardis Lynn was a loving, compassionate, and devoted wife, mother, nana, and great nana, who always put others before herself with a warm and caring heart.
Ardis Lynn was born on October 20, 1936, in Lafayette, IN to the late Samuel and Fern (Rakestraw) Cochran. She is preceded in death by her brother, William (Shirley) Cochran; her constant companion, a cocker spaniel, Molly Anne. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1954, then attended Ball State Teacher’s College for one year and received her Mrs. Degree. She returned to Lafayette to attend St. Elizabeth Hospital X-Ray School of Technology. Ardis Lynn married her husband and best friend, Gerald “Jerry,” on November 10, 1957, in Lafayette and spent 67 marvelous years together.
Ardis Lynn is survived by her husband and her beloved family whose lives she touched through her kindness, big heart and spunk. Ardis Lynn’s children, Jeff and Annette, Firth, NE, Brad and Mary Beth, Plymouth, IN, Sarah and Sean McCloskey, Indianapolis, IN; her grandchildren, Chelsea (fiancé Kevin), Conner, Cassidy, Nate and Audrey, Lauren (fiancé Anthony), Sam (fiancée Cynthia), Emma, and Katy; her great-grandchild, Lillian, and one due in May; her eight granddogs.
Ardis Lynn was employed as an X-Ray Technician in Lafayette and Madisonville, KY, where she enjoyed caring for her patients. She worked several years as a teacher’s aide in Bremen, IN and Monticello, IN, where she always looked forward to bringing smiles to her students. She also enjoyed working as a pharmaceutical technician at the Medicine Shoppe in Monticello, especially working with the clientele.
Ardis Lynn had a tremendous faith in God which was developed through membership in several churches, especially the United Church of Christ in Bremen and the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello. She served as a Deacon and Chair Person of the Memorial Team, both of which were very important in her life. She was also a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa service sorority in several Indiana communities for many years.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and one hour prior to services on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello.
The family encourages memorial donations to the Memorial Team at First Presbyterian Church, Monticello. Envelopes will be available at the church.
