Archie Donald 'Don' Wilkerson

Archie Donald "Don" Wilkerson, 78, of Monticello, passed away at 2:30 am, Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 18, 1935 in Reynolds to the late Hillard and Ellen (McCowan)Wilkerson. He married the former Shirley Miller in Chalmers, and they were divorced. He married the former Corinna Cowell on April 13, 1978 in Monticello, she passed away on February 27, 2002. He married Deanna "Dee" Nipple on January 1, 2006 in Reynolds, she passed away at home on May 19, 2014 and her services will be combined with Don's in a double ceremony. Mr. Wilkerson worked at the RCA plant in Monticello before becoming a truck driver for Standard Oil Company from which he retired. After his retirement, he worked at Purdue University. He was a member of Libanus Lodge #154 F&AM of Monticello and was a proud recipient of his 50 year award certificate. Don was also a member of the Redmens Lodge in Monticello. He enjoyed fishing, going to car shows, swap meets and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by two daughters, Donna (Jerry) Zerth of Monticello, Darlene (Rick) Davis of Monticello; son, Donnie (Angie) Wilkerson of Reynolds; four stepdaughters, Lori Guy of South Bend, Karen Nipple of Yeoman, Kathy (Brian) Hartl of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Kristy (Jerry) Campbell of Lafayette; stepson, Robert Nipple of Lafayette; sister, Betty "Jane" Haskins of Monticello; three granddaughters, Trisha Daugherty, Holly Seward, Brooke Zerth; two grandsons, Lucas and Jeremy Wilkerson; and 7 great grandchildren, Ashton, Reagan, Landon, Skyler, Noah, Braxton and Jonah. He was also preceded in death by a brothers, Harold, Robert, Richard, and Jim Wilkerson; sisters, Louise Hughes, Dorothy Brown, and Erma Robinson Visitation for both Don and Dee will be from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 5:00 pm, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Zach Wolf of the Monticello Christian Church officiating. Burial for Don will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in rural Monticello with Masonic rites. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
