Andrew "Andy" Morrison, 89, of Monticello died, Friday, January 27, 2012 at IU Health Arnett Hospital of Lafayette. He was born on March 1, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Andrew and Marie (Berg) Morrison. On August 28, 1948, in Chicago he married LaVerne M. Lundberg. She preceded him in death December 15, 2000. He married the former Jean Kastning on July 1, 2006 in Monticello and she survives. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello and Charter member of the Pullman Presbyterian Church in Chicago. He served as Deacon and Elder at both churches. He served as youth group leader at the Monticello First Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He also served during the Korea War. He was active in Boy Scouts. He was an Eagle Scout with all 3 Palms, a Virgil in the Order of the Arrow, Scout Master, and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He worked for the Commonwealth Edison Power Company in Chicago. He worked for NIPSCO for 33 years from which he retired in 1983. He served in the Civil Defense with the Red Cross for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81. He enjoyed Hamm Radio operator and Robbie Burns Scottish Celebrations. In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by three sons, Terry (Peggy) Morrison of Port Huron, MI, Larry (Gayle) Morrison of Merton, WI, Bruce (Lizbeth) Morrison of Homewood, IL; daughter, Robin (Robert) Ewing, Jr. of Akron, IN; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and one great grandson. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm (EST), Sunday, January 29, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Deacons Prayer Circle will begin at 4 pm(EST). Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the Church. Funeral services will be at 10 am (EST), Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello with Rev. Thomas Albaum officiating. Full military rites will follow services at the church. Committal services will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery Chapel, Chicago at 1:30pm (CST) with Rev. Adam Malak officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. You may sign the online guestbook at www.springerfuneralhome.com
