Alberta T. 'Bert' Vogel

Alberta "Bert" Vogel 81, of Monticello, passed away Wednesday January 2, 2008, at White County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 20, 1926 in Kokomo to the late Albert Graves and the late Margaret (Gehlhauser)Graves. Her marriage was to Lawrence "Cobb" Vogel on October 26, 1946, at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo. He passed away July 1, 2001. She graduated from Kokomo High School and attended a two year Business College. Mrs. Vogel was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. She and her husband founded Vogel Real Estate in 1963. She was also very active in her husband's auctioneering business. She was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, where she was active for 31 years. She was also a Paul Harris member of the Monticello Rotary Club. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. She was a member of the Bridge Club and the Tippecanoe Country Club. Mrs. Vogel was a United Way Board Member and a member of the Greater Monticello Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed playing bridge and loved to read novels. Survivors include: 4 Sons, Greg (Tammy) Vogel of Monticello, IN, Bruce W. (Carolyn) Vogel of Monticello, IN, Philip (Susie) Vogel of Monticello, IN, Chris (Vicki) Vogel of Monticello, IN Brother, Donald Graves of Monticello, IN 2 Sisters, Mary Martin of Kokomo, IN, Joan Cunningham of Indianapolis, IN 10 Grandchildren, and 9 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother and 3 sisters. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 7, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father Gerald Borawski officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello. Memorials may be made to the United Way or to the Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
